BABY ADAM IS HERE!
Erin, big sister Audrey and I are so very proud to announce the birth of Adam Jeffrey Dylag, born Sunday, August 22, 2010.
Adam Jeffrey Dylag
Born: 3:32 pm
Weighing: 8 lbs 14 oz
Length: 21.5 inches
We were scheduled to induce on Monday morning the 23rd, but Erin's water broke Sunday morning at 8am. So we checked into the hospital around 9:30am, and from there things progressed 'by the book'. At 3:28pm our doctor said it was time to start pushing - two contraction pushes and four minutes later Adam was here!
Mommy and baby are doing GREAT! Daddy and big sister are BEAMING WITH JOY!

Father's Day at Gearhart Beach
We spent Father's Day weekend at Gearhart Beach. We had great weather, so Audrey and Zoe spent most of the weekend playing in the sand and "cold" ocean!

From One Year to 18 Months in the Blink of an Eye!
It's been a fast six months since our last post, and a long series of "firsts" for Audrey. Her first steps (and now running!). Her first swimming and gymnastic lessons. Her first time petting a horse. Her first time swimming in the Deschutes River at the cabin. And her first, and now second haircuts!
As hard as it is to say, our Audrey is already becoming a little girl. In addition to her own special language, her vocabulary is growing everyday. Mama, dada, hi and bye bye are are all day long. But Barney, side (for outside), eat, baba, nana (for banana), baby, please and thank you are her other favorites. And as much as she follows Zoe around, poopoo and peepee are also in the repretoire.
Audrey has taken to swimming like fish in water. She is holding her breath under water, blowing bubbles, dolphin diving and even belly flopping from the side of the pool...always with a big smile, lots of giggling and clapping. Any time we mention swimming she runs around the house yelling "ming ming ming". So cute!

Fun to be ONE!
It's hard to believe an entire year has passed since our sweet angel entered the world, but it's true that time flies when you're having fun! Audrey's first birthday was action-packed and lasted a full two weeks. Audrey had all her best friends along with Grammie, Papa, Auntie's Kristen, Shanny, Danielle and cousins Matthew, Joshua, Ryan, Claire and Reese join her at The Little Gym for her big party. There was tumbling, trampolining and of course some seriously pink cake. It took Audrey a little time to figure out how to really eat birthday cake, but once she got the hang of it she was covered. The festivities concluded with a fun visit from Auntie Kim, Uncle Mike and cousins Maggie and Olivia and a trip of discovery to the Portland Children's Museum.
Audrey will agree that it's certainly fun to be ONE!

A White Christmas
Audrey's first holiday season was kicked off with a strong winter blast, resulting in the most snow the Pacific Northwest has seen in 40 years. We welcomed the snow as it transitioned our entire neighborhood into one big playground for Audrey and Zoe...and got daddy out of a few extra days of work! While Audrey couldn't move much in her triple-insulated snow suit (she reminded us of the boy in "A Christmas Story"), she did manage her first official sled-ride with daddy down the driveway.
The day before Christmas Eve, we threw the chains on the family sleigh/station-wagon and made the long, slow trip down I-5 to celebrate with the Ward, Allee and Miller families in Salem. The girls donned their matching dresses so that they could tear into their Christmas surprises in style.
It was a wonderful and magical first Christmas with Audrey that Erin and I will never forget.

A Time For Thanks
Erin and I kicked off the Holiday season by escaping to Canon Beach for the weekend to celebrate our third anniversary. A special weekend away without Audrey and Zoe who were in the best of care with Grammie being spoiled. The weather was unseasonably clear and the views were beautiful.
Audrey got to spend her first Turkey-Day in Salem with her Grammie and Papa, Auntie Danielle and Kristen and cousins Matthew and Joshua. Audrey is now eating solid foods, so she got to enjoy some of our Thanksgiving dinner. Erin made daddy change the post-Thanksgiving feast diaper!
The following weekend, Audrey and Zoe helped us pick out the perfect tree, getting us into the Christmas spirit. Although after 10 months of constant smiles, it never fails that the first Santa visit brings on the tears...Audrey definitely didn't dissapoint!
Audrey develops a case of the bathtime giggles!

Audrey in Autumn
Football games, pumpkin patches and her first Haloween...Audrey has been quite the busy little bee.
At the pumpkin patch, Audrey helped us pick out a couple keepers, and as you can see from the photos, she even gave a couple the taste test just to be sure. As always, sister Zoe is always right at her side. She even dressed up for Haloween to party with her little sis.
Not only does Audrey have an active social calendar, her crawling skills are officially in top gear. She can now scoot from one end of the house to the other in a matter of seconds. She keep us on our toes, and thinks it's hilarious when mommy and daddy have to chase after her.

A Busy August & September
As the clouds, rain and cool weather roll into the Pacific Northwest, we reflect upon the second half of the Summer. It was a busy few months indeed. Early in August, we spent a week in Sunriver and at the cabin with Erin's folks, Shannon and the Miller kiddos. Lots of fun hikes, sun bathing on the deck along side of the beautiful Deschutes river and giggling at Zoe and Madison playing fetch in the current.
As Fall set in early September, so did the college football season and Audrey attended her first (of many) Oregon Duck games. She's a duck fan through and through, and got to see the Duckies take on Utah State. From the collegiate gridiron to the grade school ranks, Audrey also watched her cousins Joshua and Matthew suiting up for the Westview football teams.
We had a special visit from Auntie Danielle who during her stay picked up her beautiful new baby boy, Brooklyn. A 12 week old Golden Retriever who loved playing with her new cousins Zoe and Madison.
Late September, we spent a long weekend in Sacramento to help Claire celebrate her big sixth birthday in full princess/fairy style. Audrey also got in some quality play time with cousins Maggie and Olivia.
In other Audrey news, she is quicking getting the hang of crawling...watch as she practices a few of her new steps on YouTube!

Audrey Explores the Oregon Coast & Mountains.
Audrey's fifth month included trips exploring a few of the beautiful ameneties Oregon has to offer. Late June, we headed out to the Oregon coast to escape the Portland heat (100°...hot for Portland!). The weather at Gearhart was absolutely perfect for both Audrey and Zoe's first beach trip. Zoe loved swimming in the ocean then digging big holes to lay in and cool off.
The third weekend in July, we went the other direction and took a hike into Mirror Lake; a high alpine lake nestled in the base of Mt. Hood. Both the weather and lake were crystal clear, as were the stunning views of the mountain in the backdrop. Audrey giggled as she watched Zoe fetch tennis balls from the lake, and Dad was proud to see his pup knows to spring from the water and "shake off" right next to Mom!

Four Months and ALL SMILES!
It's been quite a busy two months for the Dylag family. Late April, my company Nau went out of business and while it's unfortunate that things didn't work out, my 'involuntary vacation' did allow us to enjoy some quality time together as a family. After a few weeks of kicking around the house, we had a special weekend with Erin's parents, her 3 sisters and the Ward cousins.
Then it was off to enjoy a few days of serenity at the cabin in Central Oregon. It was Audrey's first cabin trip and Zoe discovered the water for the first time. After that we packed and headed to Sacramento for time with both our families. Upon returning the Oregon, I was able to get away for 2 trips to the middle Deschutes for some great fly fishing just in time for the famed Salmonfly hatch.
Claire has been feeling really well, so early June Shannon loaded Ryan, Claire and Reese in the car for a week of fun in Oregon. The action packed week was a perfect start to kick off the Summer and end my 'sabatical' before starting my new job at Nike. In my new role, I will be the Web Experience Manager for Nike's subsidiary brands; Cole Haan, Converse, Hurley and Umbro. My first day was June 16th.
The past two months have also been special as we were able to celebrate Erin's first Mother's Day as a mommie, and I got to enjoy my first Father's Day.

Audrey's 10 Weeks Already!
So it's been a while since our last posting, but nobody ever told us that this whole parenthood thing was so much work! Time really does fly when you're having fun, and Audrey has been nothing but. She is such an amazing, happy, beautiful baby, and mommy and daddy couldn't be more proud. We find ourselves just staring at her for hours on end...and her smiles make us melt every time.
Audrey has had quite a busy social calendar; lots of play dates with friends and cousin time. She is also well-travelled with two Sacramento trips under her belt, for even more cousin playtime.
Speaking of playtime, mommy and daddy need a bit more Audrey time before beddy-bye. Enjoy the photos of Audrey, which show how she's really grown from two weeks to two months.

Audrey Comes Home
On Monday, we packed up Miss Audrey, loaded the family into the car and took the short trip home. Daddy was sure to drive extra careful to get our precious cargo home safely. When we turned the corner towards our home, we found that our yard had been transitioned into one big welcome message. Denise did a wonderful job getting our house ready for Audrey's big arrival.
And of course our sweet Zoe was anxious to have her new little sis home, as she waited by the window for us to pull into the driveway. She has been absolutely wonderful with Audrey, from giving her gentle kisses on her head when she's crying, to laying at mommy's feet during late-night nursing sessions. She is so gentle and genuinely concerned about the well-being of her sis...there is something so special about the soul of a golden retriever.
Mom and dad have are adjusting to parenthood, and Audrey is already begining to nurse and nap at regular intervals. Sleep is coming in small bursts, and the proud parents are also getting used to that aspect of caring for our princess.

Audrey's Big Second Day
Audrey's second day was a big one! The morning began with a serenade from her cousins Claire and Reese, and aunties Danielle and Shannon. She was first entertained with "Good morning to you", and then a rendention of the song "Lazy Audrey won't you wake up?", which is usually reserved for their auntie Erin.
Miss Audrey was treated with lots of guest visitors today; the Wissmillers, Auntie Deidre, the Majures, Grandpa Joe, the Harrells, the Bohls, the Balkes, Megan and Brett Lyons (Audrey's new boyfriend), and the Ettingers to close out the day-long party. Between visitors Audrey practiced her nursing, and mommy is so proud of her progress.
Despite all the festivities, she still managed to nap most of the day. We have a feeling she is saving up her energy for when we head home; scheduled for around noon tomorrow!

Meet Audrey!
Our sweet Audrey Claire has arrived! Our wonderful Dr. Bruner entered the room at 10:30AM and said it was time to start pushing. Erin was absolutely amazing, and after about 35 minutes of bearing down (and Scott providing the bed-side coaching), Audrey arrived just as perfect as you could imagine. She weighed in at seven pounds and 13 ounces, and 21 inches long...daddy's claiming credit for that one. She is happy, healthy and sleeping well.
Erin is also doing great, and I'm trying my best to pull her eyes away from our new miracle so she can squeeze in a nap. Audrey was greeted to the world by Grammie and Papa, Auntie Kristen, cousins Matthew and Joshua, and Dina and Jim. Erin and I feel so blessed that Audrey's birthday was welcomed with so much love. More photos soon!

Taking Her Sweet Time
Audrey decided that Friday was the day she wanted to get out and see the world. Erin started feeling mild contractions before noon, which grew progressively stronger and more regular as the day went on. So, at around 4pm we jumped in the car and headed to Good Sam. We got checked in to our fantastic birthing suite to learn that Audrey was making good progress at 3-4 cm of dilation. But then, she had a change of heart and decided she'd hang out a little while longer.
It's now 10:15 Saturday morning and Erin's at 9cm and resting. 10cm is the magic number, so we're hoping that in the next hour or two, we'll be ready to start pushing. We'll provide another update when our sweet girl has arrived!

Erin's Baby Showers

Erin got an extra special surprise the day her girlfriends threw her baby shower...Claire Bear, Reese and Shannon! They appeared on our doorstep that morning, and proceeded to be the hit of both showers. Claire opened every present and let Erin open the cards, putting on a show that everyone just cherished. Having Shannon and Claire, as well as Erin's mom and sisters Kristen and Danielle present at both baby showers that weekend was a dream come true for Erin.

Zoe's First Cabin Trip
For our second wedding anniversay, the Dylags headed out to the cabin on the Deschutes River in central Oregon. It was Zoe's first cabin trip at just five months of age, and her first experience playing in the snow. She didn't know quite what to make of it at first, but took to it quickly as you can see. Zoe had the full experience; going on hikes to Fall River, long Sunriver walks and fly fishing with daddy on the Deschutes.
